This essay will discuss why such a strategy is not the most effective way to deal with these problems.

On the one hand, proponents of this idea argue that encouraging people to live in cities would reduce the demand for transportation in suburban and rural areas. With more people residing in urban centers, it is assumed that public transportation systems would be better utilized, reducing traffic congestion and pollution. Additionally, living in cities can make commuting more efficient, as individuals would be able to rely on better access to public transport networks, thus minimizing their dependence on personal vehicles.

However, this solution fails to address the fundamental issues of traffic and transportation. Cities are already overcrowded, and moving more people into urban areas would likely exacerbate existing congestion rather than alleviate it. The infrastructure in many cities is not designed to accommodate a growing population, and adding more residents would put even greater strain on the public transport systems and roads. Moreover, cities are often plagued by air pollution and noise, which could be further worsened by the increase in population density.

Instead of encouraging people to move to cities, a more balanced approach would be to improve transportation infrastructure in suburban and rural areas. By investing in better road networks and public transport options, these areas could be better connected to urban centers, allowing people to live outside of overcrowded cities while still having access to jobs and essential services.
