However, some argue that as a country advances in technology, traditional skills and ways of life inevitably fade away, and it is pointless to try to preserve them. While I understand the reasoning behind this view, I believe that maintaining a balance between modernity and tradition is not only possible but essential for preserving cultural identity.

On the one hand, it is undeniable that technological progress has significantly transformed many aspects of daily life. For example, innovations in communication, transportation, and agriculture have made tasks faster and more efficient, reducing the reliance on traditional methods. In some cases, these technological advancements have made certain skills, such as handcrafting or manual farming, less relevant or even obsolete. In such instances, it might appear that preserving these old practices serves little purpose in a society driven by technology.

However, I disagree with the notion that traditional skills and lifestyles should be abandoned entirely. Traditional practices are often deeply tied to a country’s heritage and cultural identity. For instance, indigenous craftsmanship, local farming techniques, and traditional festivals contribute significantly to a nation’s sense of identity and continuity. Furthermore, many traditional skills offer sustainable solutions to modern challenges, such as eco-friendly farming practices that are becoming increasingly relevant in the face of climate change. In this regard, rather than being viewed as obsolete, these traditions should be integrated with new technologies to create a more holistic approach to development.

Moreover, traditional skills can have an economic value. Handcrafted products, for example, are often highly valued in global markets, offering opportunities for local artisans to showcase their work. This not only preserves tradition but also promotes economic growth, particularly in rural areas where traditional practices may still be prominent. Thus, by fostering a symbiotic relationship between technology and tradition, countries can benefit from both modern innovations and time-honored skills.

In conclusion, while technological development undoubtedly changes the way we live, it is not pointless to try and preserve traditional skills and ways of life. In fact, striking a balance between modernity and tradition is crucial for maintaining a nation’s cultural heritage and promoting sustainable development.
