(1) Super powerful companies ==> less domestic business & more pressure from oversees
(2) Kills local talent ==> less diversity & local innovation
The last few decades of the 20th century was the beginning of a new world order in which few very powerful economies dictated the rules of the market to the rest of the world. Nowadays, after almost half a century we live in a world filled with the products of a handful well known brands from such industrial countries. I am convinced that this has been a negative development for a couple of reasons.
The creation of well known international companies with names and logos better known to world than the presidents of many countries, has resulted in a new balance in favor of the owners of such enterprises even in countries far from their western origin and this is bad news for local businesses. First of all, with considerable financial resources and utilizing modern marketing strategies, such international companies leave no room for local businesses to compete with them. The owners of local brands and businesses will be overwhelmed and soon out of work in their own countries. Thousands of local business owners and their staff will be unemployed and soon will seek job oversees or have to continue a less profitable careers.
On the other hand, the disappearance of local businesses will undoubtedly results in less diversity and local innovation in developing countries. Since many creative local people are forced out of the work they are best at, many innovations do not find the chance to be introduced and the world as a whole will suffer as a result. Secondly, the world’s market will be filled with same brands and taste, so new generations will not be able to appreciate the local values and independent views of their country.
To sum up, it can be argued that the similarity of products all around a world is a negative development both for local businesses and people who appreciate diversity and different taste. It seems that such trend is bound to continue in the next few decades. (327 words)
